"Photography Circle" is a non-profit cultural society that has operated in Athens since 1988.

Platon Rivellis is the founder and president of the "Circle". Rivellis is himself a photographer, a teacher of the art of photography and a writer of theoretical books on photography.

"Photography Circle" has, to this day about 200 active members whose membership fees ensure the financial independence of the Society. Periodically, the Society has received grants from the Ministry of Culture and from private institutions.

This purpose is achieved in different ways:

1) 1) Through the organisation of seminars, lectures, photographic presentations and exhibitions.

2) Through the publication of photographic albums and theoretical books.

3) Through members' meetings.

4) Through an extensive photographic library which numbers more than 3.500 books and all the current Greek, French, English and Italian magazines specializing in photography.

Anyone with an interest in the art of photography can become a member of the Photography Circle, whether they are photographers themselves or not. The overwhelming majority of members are graduates of the Introductory Seminars to Creative Photography which Platon Rivellis has been teaching since 1981.
